Getting started
What is Fitness Radio?
Fitness Radio is a streaming music service for group fitness instructors, gyms and anyone who works out to a beat. The library has more than 61,000 tracks going back to the 1960s, both 32-count phrased and regular. You also get Daily Mixes, DJ-curated playlists, 60-minute DJ mixes, and radio stations. With Premium Pulse and Studio Suite, you set the tempo yourself, and phrased tracks hold the count at any speed.
Is Fitness Radio the same as FIT Radio?
No. Fitness Radio (fitnessradio.com) is made by Fitness Radio L.L.C. and isn't affiliated with FIT Radio (fitradio.com), a different workout music app with a similar name. See how the two compare.
Who is Fitness Radio for?
Instructors and gyms are our main audience, and solo athletes and everyday listeners are welcome too. Instructors tend to use playlists for their classes. Gyms and casual listeners usually spend their time on the radio stations.
How do I get started?

Where can I listen?
On the web at radio.fitnessradio.com, and in the Fitness Radio app, which is available on Google Play and the App Store. The Android app is currently available in the United States.
Using the app
What are the main parts of the app?
The bar along the bottom has five tabs. Home is your starting point, with new music, genres, playlists, your favorites, DJs, trending music and radio stations. Discover is for finding something new, with genres, signature sets by DJs, trending music and DJs in the spotlight. HIIT holds the HIIT Timer and Smart Playlists. Library is everything you have saved. Profile holds your account, security and settings.
How do I search for music?
Tap Search on the Home tab, or the magnifying glass at the top of Library. On Discover you can also search by mood.
Where do I find the radio stations?
Radio stations show up on the Home tab and as a row on the Discover tab, and you can tap Show All to see every station. In Library, choose the Radio Stations filter to see them all, and tap the heart on a station to save it as a favorite. Stations are included with Premium Pulse and Studio Suite.
Where do I find my playlists and favorites?
Open the Library tab. The note icon at the top takes you to your own playlists, and the heart icon takes you to the playlists you have saved. Use the filters across the top to switch between Playlists, Albums, Artists, DJs, Radio Stations and All Songs. Your favorite tracks are on the Home tab under Your Favorites.
How do I create a playlist or add my own music?

Open the player and tap the BPM shown under Tempo. You can set an exact BPM for the current track, or lock one BPM for the whole playlist, by typing it or using the plus and minus buttons. Tempo control is available on Premium Pulse and Studio Suite. If a song is pushed far from its original tempo, the app warns you that it may sound processed.
What is Cadence?
Cadence lets the music follow your steps as you run. It is in the app only: you turn it on in the player next to Tempo. It is available on every plan.
Where is the HIIT Timer?

Settings is where you update your music preferences, add profile links, apply to become a DJ, and find the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Music and 32-count phrasing
What is 32-count phrasing?
Group fitness choreography is built in blocks of 32 counts. In a 32-count phrased song, one phrase is 32 beats, which is 8 bars of 4. The count starts on the song's first downbeat, and the song always ends on a 32. That means the music changes exactly when your choreography does.
What is gapless playback?
Tracks flow into each other with no silence between them, so a class or workout keeps its energy from the first song to the last.
Can I change the tempo?
Yes. Tempo (BPM) control is available on Premium Pulse and Studio Suite. Tracks are time-stretched to the BPM you choose, so a song's original tempo never limits what can go in your playlist.
What is the difference between phrased and regular tracks?
Phrased tracks are prepared so their phrases line up with 32-count choreography. Regular tracks are the original songs, which are great for general listening. The library has both.
Can I build my own playlists?
Yes, with Premium Pulse and Studio Suite. Both include custom playlists and Smart Playlists, and both can use 32-count downbeat detection on tracks in their own playlists. Studio Suite adds playlists up to 48 hours long for running a floor all day: build one, or stack the ones you have. Standard Beat is for listening, with gapless playback and 15 hours a month.
What are Daily Mixes?
Daily Mixes are fresh 60-minute mixes built every day, each in a single genre, at 136 BPM.
What are DJ mixes and DJ playlists?
DJ-curated playlists and 60-minute DJ mixes are put together by DJs. You can mix and match them and change their BPM.
How often is new music added?
We add new music regularly and put newer releases first.
Radio stations
Which plans include the radio stations?
Premium Pulse and Studio Suite include all of the stations.
Does the radio play explicit songs?
Our radio stations skip tracks that are flagged as containing profanity.
Can I use the radio at my gym?
Studio Suite is made for gyms and studios, and for the gym floor we recommend the radio stations.
